About the property
Life just like in Bullerbü! A young family has breathed new life into an old square courtyard house with great attention to detail and an appreciation for the old. The result is a dream home. The main house, which used to be rather dark, was to be made bright, welcoming and flooded with light. To achieve this, two large double doors were installed, connecting the hallway to the adjoining rooms. When the doors are open, they lend the house an open, spacious character. The owner, who has a keen eye for interior design (Instagram: @vonwertdesign), loves objects with a history just as much as design classics, creating a skilful blend of old and new. So, naturally, the crooked old front door wasn’t thrown away, but painstakingly restored. Old tiles were given a new lease of life. The highlight: a completely ‘different’ door was fitted in the family kitchen – very minimalist, without a door handle, featuring only a pull-handle. This demonstrates the client’s flair for interior design, as the door blends perfectly into the rather clean-lined kitchen – a bold decision.
