About the property
This beautiful old building is part of a trio of properties built in 1908 by the firm Caspar Thywissen for its employees at the time. A house with a rather challenging floor plan and, in places, a very poor structural condition. But it also had enormous potential. And it was precisely this that the client recognised, deciding to undertake a complete renovation with the support of the experienced architect and interior designer Doris Annen-Feld.

The layout of the rooms within the house was completely redesigned. The ‘parlour’, for example, was transformed into a kitchen-diner with a cosy seating area in the bay window. And the kitchen was converted into a living room with a view of the garden. Plastic windows were replaced with new, heritage-appropriate wooden windows. The side bay windows had to be completely replaced. No expense was spared on the interior fit-out either. Alongside the renewal of the concrete ceilings, new colours and materials, built-in furniture, classic pieces and new furniture were used. The client, who lived in Hamburg for several years, is particularly delighted with the beautiful doors from there. They create a personal connection and round off the successful interplay of old and new, creating a perfect living experience.
